Routes and Roadtrips - Vol 01: Mountain Biking in Northern Westman

Mountain biking in Western Manitoba

Day 1: Neepawa and the Hylife Back Forty Bike Park

Start your mountain biking adventure in Neepawa at the Hylife Back Forty, home to Manitoba's largest jump park. Hone your skills on the beginner berms, skinnies, and jumps before making your way to the intermediate, advanced, then pro lines. All in a days work… right? They have dirt, wood, and stone features for all!

After working up an appetite, head to Brews Brothers Bistro for a delicious lunch. Be sure to try their famous meat loaf sandwich and can’t-miss cheesecake. The local art on the walls, friendly staff, and downtown location make it the perfect post-ride refueling spot.

Day 2: Minnedosa - Squirrel Hills Trail Park

On day two, take a short drive to Minnedosa to ride the brand new enduro trails at Squirrel Hills. Put your new jump and berm skills to the test on this complete trail system. The system is brand new to Manitoba with an external rim cross country trail and 8 machine built downhill jump lines!

Cool off after your ride with a refreshing treat from Dari Isle Drive In or take a dip in the inviting waters of Minnedosa Lake. For some family fun, check out Splish Splash Waterpark and let your inner child come out to play.

Mix it Up: Golf and Frisbee Golf

If you want to switch things up, bring your golf clubs and play a round on one of Minnedosa or Neepawa’s beautiful golf courses. Or grab a frisbee and head to a local frisbee golf course in either town for a relaxing round.

Camping is available in both towns with Minnedosa’s campground being larger but much more busy. With mountain biking, golf, frisbee golf, and water activities, Northern Westman offers an action-packed weekend getaway for everyone. So pack your bags, grab your bike, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure in this stunning region of Manitoba!

Huge thank you to The Town of Neepawa for making the HyLife Back Forty bike park possible.

Another huge thank you goes to Valley Life Recreation of Minnedosa for developing the Squirrel Hills Trails. Trail donations can be sent here: https://valleyliferec.ca/support-us/ . Trail membership here: Join Us! – Valley Life Recreation

Disclaimer: At this time there are some significant drainage issues at HyLife Back Forty bike park which is a work in progress. Please be patient as they work on a solution for the affected lines. The potential here is MASSIVE.)
