It's been a busy past few months and we're excited to share some of what we've been working on!
Tentative Agreement with Historical Resources Branch and Little Red Spirit Society
We are excited to announce that the Manitoba Mountain Bike Association has reached a tentative agreement with the Historical Resources Branch and the Little Red Spirit Society to collaborate on the development of trails and facilities in the Nimowin Pits area. This partnership will allow us to work with these important stakeholders to ensure that any work we undertake respects the cultural and historical significance of the land.
Developing a Relationship with the Manitoba Horse Counsel
We are also actively working to develop a relationship with the Manitoba Horse Counsel, as this is the last key step before we can sign a memorandum of understanding for the sanctioning of the Nimowin Pits with Birds Hill Provincial Park. We could use some assistance from our members in this endeavor, as building a strong partnership with the Horse Counsel is crucial.
A key component of this relationship will be for mountain bike riders at Nimowin Pits to yield and respect those on horseback, no matter the difficulty of the interaction. We understand that this may not always be easy, but it is essential for the successful co-existence of these two user groups on the trails.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers who have time to meet with Provincial Park staff in Nimowin Pits to go over the plans for the area. Additionally, we are seeking a volunteer who has experience with horseback riding as well as a passion for mountain biking. This individual would be instrumental in helping us navigate the relationship with the Horse Counsel and ensure that the needs of both user groups are met.
If you are interested in volunteering in either of these capacities, please reach out to us at [email protected] We appreciate your support and look forward to working together to make the Nimowin Pits a welcoming and inclusive space for all.
